07.04.2008 7.80 Lower arroyo in 58:40. legs felt a little weird, like they were going to cramp, but didn't.
08.04.2008 3.00 1000-800-600-400 (going every 5-4-3 min) + 5x400 (going every 2 min): 3:08, 2:30, 1:56, 79 + 68, 75, 72, 72, 71
09.04.2008 4.50 Madre in 42:50, nice and easy recovery run. then trained for steeple...this is going to be hilarious
10.04.2008 3.00 5-4-3-2-1 at Lacey. did 5 laps, felt slow during 2 minute run because legs were sore from steeple practice
11.04.2008 3.00 pre race. nervous, practiced steeple some more. i have horrible form.
12.04.2008 5.00 3k steeple: 11:25(9th) 5k: 16:59.76 (16th). water jump is harder than expected. 5k was split well: (5:19, 10:55, 16:25).got outkicked in last 200 but otherwise very happy with race

log 03.02.2008 - 05.04.2008

03.02.2008 6.00 Ran with Garrett easy for 60 minutes (garfield long way)
04.02.2008 7.80 Ran easy 60 minutes, picked up at the end (lower arroyo). Dennis seems faster than me, especially if he hasn't run before.
05.02.2008 7.80 Damn, I ran really slow for that 2.5 mile tempo (14:51). Dennis was a little ahead of me, but I mostly ran on pace. Hopefully I can do a 10:30 3200 by the end of track...
06.02.2008 5.00 40 minutes, easy run. 8 lap warmup before run because my left leg was feeling weak.
07.02.2008 3.70 2000 (6:55) 1600 (5:34) 1200 (4:08) 800 (2:34) 400 (1:15) on the track. Left calf was hurting at the beginning.
08.02.2008 3.50 Pre race. Felt pretty bad. Left leg is weak, Erin thinks it's pulled.
09.02.2008 3.25 First meet: 4x1600 (5:11), 4x800 (2:18), 3000 (10:29). felt bad on all but 3k. leg especially acted up during 800.



11.02.2008 7.80 Ran pretty consistent for 60 minutes. Same as (04.02), but felt better. leg is not hurting so much
12.02.2008 5.00 20 minute tempo run at lacey, completed 7 laps ( +/- 100m ). faster 3 mile split than last time (17:03)
13.02.2008 3.00 Interhouse track: 800 (2:17, 4th), 3000 (10:17, 1st), 4x400 (??, 2nd). leg not hurting at all during meet. slow 400 (probably 58ish, but no official splits). almost got owned in last lap of 3000, but outsprinted 2nd
14.02.2008 6.50 Huntingson, no idea how long it took since I forgot to start my watch. Legs were okay.
15.02.2008 3.50 Pre race. felt ridiculously good.
16.02.2008 3.00 Pomona-Pitzer all comers meet (FAT): 3000 (9:59.61, 23rd), Mile (5:02.70, 24th), 4x400 (57.00, anchor, 5th)



18.02.2008 9.00 Full arroyo with garrett and anton in 78 minutes. Not taxing, but I tripped over a branch at the aquatic center that hurt a lot. felt okay after a few minutes
19.02.2008 4.00 5x1200 (4:00, 4:00, 3:59, 4:00, 4:01) going every 6:30. pretty hard and yet easier than I imagined. even lap splits per 1200 were pretty good (1:18, 2:38, finishing time). but left ankle feels injured
20.02.2008 0.00 Don't know if I can really run today. I could barely walk without an uneven stride after Aph9 lab yesterday. We'll see how it goes. (update: didn't run, might not be able to for a while)

27.02.2008 6.00 huntington easy recovery run. took ~44 minutes, legs felt pretty okay. hopefully can get like a 9:50 in the 3k this weekend.

01.03.2008 2.50 SCIAC Invite: 1500 (4:34.06, 8th), 3000 (9:54.97, 11th) 2 PRs, pretty amazing meet



03.03.2008 9.00 Full arroyo in 64:41, felt pretty good the entire way. Anton ran it in like 63:15. No difficulties so far.
04.03.2008 3.50 3x1600 (5:23, 5:26, 5:23) going every 10 minutes. Was pretty hard because no one was in front of me to pace (anton and matt ran 800s).
05.03.2008 0.00 Sick
06.03.2008 3.00 It's not really three, I'm sure I did more but I lost count. Ran around on track for 40 minutes because I'm still sick.
07.03.2008 5.00 garfield long way easy. Took 41:03 to finish, but felt much better than yesterday

14.03.2008 3.00 Horrible race, went out too fast and got tired (17:10 5k), ran first 2 miles in 10:46. very sad, ran a 7 mile cooldown in a little under an hour

19.03.2008 7.50 long run, felt slow because of heat. woke up late so it was really hot outside. same as yesterday but didn't do loop around neighborhood
19.03.2008 2.00 6x400 @ 75 with 2 minutes rest. ran in lane 4, so it's not really 400, wanted to help out my HS friends pace correctly (they did). then 4x200 @ 30, ran in lane 6 so it's not 200

20.03.2008 5.50 nice easy run with matt to catch up, legs felt better than in the morning
21.03.2008 3.40 Tempo run for 20 minutes at udall park, did ~5.5 (+/- 50m) laps at 1000m each. It's probably a little less than a half, but I have no idea since it's not a marked loop. Still it was good pace.
21.03.2008 4.50 played ultimate with friends. team sucked and gave up too easily. ran ~4.5 miles while they got their act together. drunk guy wanted to play, was actually pretty good

24.03.2008 4.00 16x400 with 2 minutes rest, ran: 73, 72, 73, 74, 73, 72, 73, 73, 73, 73, 73, 74, 73, 73, 73, 72. super tiring, really felt like I was starting to fade at lap 13ish. surprisingly held pace.
25.03.2008 10.50 (retroactively added) did the girls distance workout at my high school (highland park +), then did the boys distance workout(rosemont loop). then ran with arturo for 5 miles (indian house +)
26.03.2008 3.00 (retroactively added) 5x1000 going every 5 minutes: 3:58, 3:26, 3:24, 3:24, 3:25. horrible workout, should have been able to go faster. maybe it was too hot? or perhaps I need people to run with.
26.03.2008 4.00 (retroactively added) helped arturo warm up for mile, then after that helped him warm up for the 800, then ran with janeth to warm up for two-mile. each warm up was ~15 minutes.

31.03.2008 9.00 Full arroyo in 64:20, faster than last time. Hit a ton of lights in town, made me upset. Dennis is doing pretty well, he'll be a good xc runner.
01.04.2008 2.50 10x400 going every 2:00 minutes (46 sec rest!): ran 74, 76, 74, 74, 76, 74, 75, 75, 75, 72. bonus 400: 62. felt happy that I didn't lose much
02.04.2008 6.00 Huntington coming up los robles. was going pretty fast but once anton dropped me i felt fine. took 47:47
03.04.2008 3.50 tempo run for 20 minutes at lacey. ran slightly more than 7 laps. was pretty close to anton, ran consistent pace. 6 laps in 17:08
04.04.2008 3.00 pre race, left hip was hurting, went away after a while, but didn't do strides because of it.
05.04.2008 3.10 bad race, ran 17:12, but more even splits this time; felt really weak right before race, but it was just nervousness. left hip started to hurt on cooldown but was fine during race. will i ever break 17:00?
