300

Today, I have hit 300 days of running in a row (no days off). Each run has at least been 3 miles in length, but the average is probably 9 or so. Tomorrow, I will take a rest day, thus ending the streak. Why? Running every day for me wasn't a way to get into serious racing shape; I just wanted to see if I had the mental fortitude to run every day regardless of how lazy I was and if my body could survive injury-free for such a long period of time. Despite this, I've found that consistently running has actually improved my ability well beyond what I would have thought possible for this type of training. I've hit a few PRs (800, 1500/1600, 5k), but I know that running every day will not maximize my speed. So I've decided to join a running club, take rest days and, you know, have an actual training plan. I know I have the toughness to stick to it (and the time too, now that I'm done with Caltech :P). Hopefully I can lay down some good times once I'm all recovered.
